Alaska Fisheries Information?
We're going to Anchorage in June and moving by car to get to some fishing areas. I know there are some rules in certain areas where one can use the fly fishing gear, Fishing Rod or a regular … Does anyone know where I can get this information in advance? Trying to plan what to do with the map of our routes … I looked for any kind of map or link, but can not seem to find anything but a reference to the Department of Fishing … Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure where Artie lives, but in my part of Alaska (south central) we will not be cold and snowy covered in the time in June rolls around. In our area of the state, almost anywhere you can access with a car show if there are relevant regulations in place. As soon as he struck Anchorage, stop at any sporting goods store such as Sportsman's Warehouse (Anchorage, Wasilla, and Fairbanks) and obtain a current copy of the fishing regulations. Even the sports department at Wal-Mart 'em. All the details you want and need (and more) will be published there for this area. Bring adequate to address the types of fishing you want to do. Art (My recommendation would be that some of each, if not just a purist fly fishing.) Spinning and fly that just arrived on everything you want to catch. As for salt, will have to charter a boat from there and in that case almost all offshore sailors against the need to provide more. Also, when you come to a likely future goes on the road, chances are you will not be alone. When the salmon is being used (from May), will have a lot of people looking for the best runs. Ask anyone for advice and they are required to do so. Throughout roads for the best fishing are also hostels, resorts, restaurants and fuel stops. Everyone wants your business, so do not hesitate to ask for their best advice. As a former director of gaming in this state, I can assure you will have no problem finding out what is or is not legal to do in fisheries in Alaska. The free play rules are available almost everywhere including grocery stores. All you have to do is get here, get a copy, "read", and fishing. I will be looking for you. Have a safe trip, and we'll see when you get here.
