how to save money while on vacation in Scotland?
I am planning a genealogy vacation with Scotland on 15 to 30 September 2007. I was wondering if someone can give me advice on saving money, because I heard it's real expensive to rent in Great Britti. My plan is to stay in Kimarnock and rent a small car to move. I visit East Ayrshire Darvel, Newmilns & Galston. I also have to visit Torque, Kirkcudbrightshire. While I'm there I go to Edinburgh to visit the National Archives. Has anyone been there? can give some suggestion? Once you visit all the places I mentioned below, I'll try to visit the castle Mackenzie Martinez-McKinzie & etc. Is it hard to get used to driving on the wrong side of the car? Just kidding, it's bad for me, but the people who live there probably think that we drive on the wrong side here in the U.S.. I think I will rent a machine because I'm flying to Glasgow to collect the car there. Can anyone tell where I stay at Kilmarnock where I can smoke in my room?

Fly Fishing History – From Antiquity to date
Fly fishing has been around since ancient times, but the first recorded reference to the use artificial flies appeared at the end of the century 2. A Roman named Claudius Aelian wrote about Macedonian fishermen in the river Astraeus that fish caught with flies artificial. He described the flies that had been made of red wool and chicken feathers attached to a hook. The bars and the chain used were 6 feet long and had quite successful in catching fish. Over the years, people have been enjoying fly fishing and write about it.
Fly fishing in modern times originated in the rivers of northern England and Scotland. Not much was written about him until 1496 when the 'The Fysshynge Treatyse at an angle' was published by Dame Juliana Berners. The book contains instructions for making rods, lines and hooks used in fly fishing. He also described dressings different flies used at different times of the year. The patterns for fly fishing described are still in use today and fishermen believe they are effective for successful fly fishing. The popular patterns include the woolly worm, Mosquito Black, Dun and Stonefly Whirlwind.
Dame Juliana also describes bars used at the time. The bars were about 18 feet long and were very flexible wood. The lines were shorter than those used today and were made Hand-braided manes. The line was attached to the rod tip and a general rule at that time was that there should be greater than the rod.
Izaak Walton published his book 'Compleat Fisherman' with the first detailed written about fly fishing. In fact, two chapters were actually written by his friend Charles Cotton. Bars and flies is described in the book were similar to those described by Dame Juliana. The description of the lines was slightly different in that the lines were longer than 6 feet those used in 1400, although they were still made of horsehair. The book also describes the sharp lines and this was considered the first written description of the sloping lines.
Fishing line manufacturers began mixing silk with horsehair for fishing lines in early 1800. The line Silk was first made during the Civil War. The lines of silk was a layer of fat that made them waterproof. After the invention of silk fishing line, horsehair was never used, though the lines of horse hair sometimes can be found in England until World War II. However, after the first line nylon was manufactured in 1948, most manufacturers began using synthetic materials for the fly fishing line. Advanced technology and precision engineering helped to create a tapered line automatically in 1952.
