Although fishermen are praised for their beauty, is well known that there more fish to catch. The world record for the largest Brooke trout takes place in Canada in 1918. A fourteen-pound "Brookie" was captured in the Nipigon River in Ontario, Canada.

Other species include trout, red trout, a species that enjoys hiding in bracken and branches, and most deep water lake trout. The current control laws protect the population of lake trout, which require fishermen to release catches that measure certain sizes. The size of the lake trout indicates its potential to spawn and release fertilized eggs. With the maintenance programs of trout population protection and responsible fishing, trout, which will survive for future generations.
