Emerger Fly

What exactly is an "emerging" fly and how to fish?
Most aquatic insects, to surface water from below – who spend part of his life in the water like a pupa or nymph, and then at some point rise to the surface and emerge in the next development stage. A nymph (a bit buggy worm or creature in the water) results in an adult (a winged, long-legged creature that can walk on water and fly). Nymph flies like pheasant and rabbit ears Tails imitate the nymphal stage of the insect. BWOs and dry flies as PMDS imitate the adult stage. You probably know more about it. Flies imitate Emerge in the intermediate stage, when the fly is in the act of leaving their nymphs Shuck, case, or whatever. Emerge imitations fished on the surface, and are not captured in the water. Instead, they are caught in the surface film of water. The reason that they are effective is because fish and aquatic insects emerging – that are more vulnerable than other stages. A nymph can escape the fish swim, or be dragged by the fish's current opportunity. An adult, obviously, can fly or skitter across the surface. The insect has been Emerging stuck – is trapped in the surface film, trying to surface and air. If you've ever seen fish feeding just on the surface, so that hardly make a ring in the water, they're probably eating emergers. It emergers fishing how to fish dry flies, but be aware that they sink a little – not sink to the bottom, but not exactly floating on the surface, either. That a little hard to see sometimes. Some models have a parachute, flash or some other marker to make them more visible, but in general, just to be on your toes. Cast upstream from feeding the trout and the drift in fish – remember, the emerge is supposed to have come from the bottom to the surface. The fish should not see the emergence of land in the water. Many of the normal patterns of dry fly is a variant of emerge. One of my favorites is the X-Caddis, a current Elk Hair Caddis with some white Dacron or some other hanging tail nymphs representing the spathe. Sometimes the fish just will not go to an adult after completely striped Caddis on the surface – I guess maybe will get lazy. They want an easier prey, a cripple or an emerging caddis is still struggling to leave the water.
Dragon flying in the sky
During hot summer days, air over the fields and ponds becomes the scene of some of the flyers more amazing-insectdom dragonflies.
With their two pairs of long wings shining in the sun, you can see flashing dragonflies round, loops, and inflection diving in the will. A moment that will zoom at high speed trains, high in the sky, then the next, down to skim the surface of a pond. These wonders of creation can even fly backwards or hover in the air like a helicopter.
However, the sun love dragonflies do not fly simply for the enjoyment thereof. These dynamos carriers offer their abilities to feed an insatiable appetite. In fact, Mr. Dragonfly can eat their own weight in half an hour and still be hungry.
When hunting for a meal to satisfy your appetite, dragonflies exhibit distinctive patterns. Some species of searching large areas. Others have established paths to follow generation after generation. Greater involvement of dragonflies and territories for them to scare other wildly dragonflies sound of their wings. Sometimes, if an invasion of dragonfly is bold and not be intimidated by the noise, met face to face. Looming together, these two remain in that position as it rises up into the sky.
If they take to roaming or settle in one place, stay alert for dragonflies preferred diet: the mosquitoes and gnats. You'll also find tasty food in moths and flies. Due to its long, slender, needle-shaped body, many people have thought that dragonflies Sting, but that do not. Not only are harmless to humans, but also very beneficial because of their devouring quantities of mammoth flies and mosquitoes.
When a dragonfly in zeros on these insects, which are completely overcome. Equipped with six legs of the spine are fringed grouped together as a basket, dragonflies prey spoon in the air and sucking their bodies, while the dry-run after another victim. So quickly is what gobble dam that dragonflies have been known to eat two hours forty flies. A dragonfly was found with his mouth stuffed with hundreds of mosquitoes! No wonder that these voracious insects have earned the name "flying dragons".
Mating, and the underwater life
But there is a time when the dragonflies pay less attention to food and more to his airmanship. This is during the mating season. Rival males seeking the attentions of a woman taking air battle. Its dogfights will feature some of the most brilliant aerial maneuvers every living creature. Some species are more moderate, however, and perform a dance of courtship.
Once you have found a mate, males literally carried the female. To mate, dragonflies flying in tandem, ie the man holding the woman by the back of the head while flying through the air. As the female to mate, covers the tip of his abdomen to segment chest of the male and the second gets a sperm capsule.
After the eggs are fertilized, the female lays them the surface of a pond or aquatic weeds. Exactly how many eggs does a dragonfly is open to question, but have not found as many as 110,000 eggs in a single group.
The eggs are found in water or weed a few days. Then the young begin to emerge. And strange creatures they are. Apart from being born with strong appetites, these creatures, called nymphs, resemble their parents very little. They have gills on the thin walls of the intestines. These galls not only absorb oxygen, but in times problems, the nymph to escape quickly. When the alarm, the nymph just lift your legs from the pond bottom, expelling a jet of water through the gills, rockets and several inches forward.
Perhaps the most unusual feature of the nymph is his way of getting food. Unlike their parents in the fleet, the nymph is slow. Therefore, waiting for a mosquito or small fish swimming nearby. Then suddenly, he shoots out a hidden lip under the head. Sharp claws the tip of the lower lip to capture unsuspecting prey and pull it to the mouth of the nymph. This lower lip, which is hinged, elongated, operates similarly to the human arm. The center is like the hinge of the elbow, allowing the lower lip to swing back and forth easily.
When the lower lip is not in use and folds again under the body, something unusual happens. The claws cover the face of the nymph as a bandit mask. A suit fit for these little creatures of the deep!
Life in heaven
Many nymphs among the nearly 5,000 species of dragonflies to complete its life under water in a year. Others, however, may take two to five years. During this time they spend ten to fifteen successive stages of the molt. Many changes: the number of six faces in increasing the lenses of compound eyes, the new antenna gain joints lose their hairy legs, wing pads appear on the chest. But these changes are merely a prelude to its transformation as the dragonfly adults.
Final step of the nymph to be a creature in the air usually begins at night. It leaves the water and clings to the bank or a mother. Twelve hooks, two on each foot, sure your domain. Here it remains motionless for some time as the body of the complete metamorphosis.
Finally, a car appears on the back of dragonfly scruffy chest and struggles out of the shell of nymphs. In the first of its four wings are moist and folded back like a fan, but steadily the blood opened by swelling of the vast network of veins running through transparent tissues.
Also the colors of the newly created dragonfly are weak. However, intensified until dragonfly rivals, including the butterfly and moth in beauty. Its range of spectral colors of the rainbow, brown, lavender, blue, green, blue white, blue, red, red, purple, sapphire blue, red and ivory.
The dragonfly to wait about five hours after leaving his armor-like shell to allow its wings and body harden. Once the wings are capable of carrying on the flight, dragonfly darts in the air. Never again will to use their legs to walk. It has become a creature of the air.
Powerful Flier
The largest dragonfly today is a tropical species with a wingspan seven and a half inches. It ranks as one of the best and strongest flyers insectdom's. In fact, this most accomplished aviator insect has been known to fly fifty sixty miles per hour!
The power of the wings is provided by the motor muscles that form a quarter of all the weight of the dragonfly. These muscles, the vibration of its wings 1,600 times per minute, allows dragonflies to cover large distances. These are powerful fliers that ship passengers have been observed flying their way to the sea 175 miles off the coast of Africa. One of the species were established on an island that was 200 miles out at sea!
They fly great distances, when drought or food shortage leads to migration. These migrations sometimes reach fantastic proportions. In 1839 millions of them covered the sky, as they followed the rivers and streams throughout most of Europe. In the United States, swarms of them moved south in 1881, literally darkening the sky.
But these flyers must be ever vigilant. They are in constant danger of birds, frogs and fish. Against predators like dragonflies have speed and vision. His eyes bulging, covering the better part of the head, scan the far distance. The Creator designed so that each eye contains as many goals as the eyes of the 15,000 men! You can view it in the direction of virtually all at once. And they are farsighted, allowing them to detect a mosquito ten meters away.
With that vision dragonflies can avoid almost any pursuers, including man. Trying to catch these clever flyers can be a difficult task. But Japanese children have ruled out the network for talent. They give a pebble to the ends of long hair and throw them into the air, where the dragonflies are circles. When an insect is thrown on the stone step, the spins of hair on his body and weight of the reasons for her grit.
Although these spirited creatures are capable of evade most enemies, the temperate zone finally being trapped by the cold winds of autumn. The dragonfly's life is short, lasting only the warmer months spring and summer. In the fall is still cling to the stems or leaves, numb with cold. Flying is done only during the warmest part of day. The first frost down the curtain for them, leaving the air above the fields and streams without him fascinating.
But the chain of life continues. The nymphs, sheltered beneath the ponds and streams, continue to mature. With the heat, which will become a new generation of dragons of heaven.
