Winter Fishing Tips and templates crappie
Crappie fishing in winter can be a daunting challenge, but help is encouraged. Super fishing rate fish really starts after the ice is left behind in the spring, but its cold now and we are hungry for bite of white meat and clean.
So ask how to catch small and how to get the tray of fish in the pan and ice fishing when there are only a few key elements to consider: the bait, the location and ice.
In cold weather the fish are slower and its change in hunting patterns. Do not forget this – EVER. They are very different, we like our ice cream in the summer and winter chili. Keep this in mind when fishing in any water temperature. Use baits faster in warmer waters and slower baits in water cooler.
When the waters are cooler and sometimes all frozen under the surface moves slower so choice of templates to collect moving more slowly, this means lighter weight too as it does not sink so fast. Many of the plastic templates glide smoothly through the water, this is a great advantage in the spring months, but less so in colder waters.
Feathered templates also soften when wet and move quickly through the water, but an artificial boom sometimes fall slower than most plastics. Let's not forget that the rigid plastics, when received get colder and this is part of the reason that small templates work well in colder waters.
When the drop in water temperature below 50 degrees crappie will seek shelter in almost any structure they can find, so choose a bait that are in the shelter they are hiding in. Most water gets a little clearer when the ice above. When this happens use smaller templates.
I also suggest the use of color is very light in the template as yellow and white. Some of the smaller plastics seem to work well for me I like to use more small worms or tubes. When I know the water is clear start with a white or very light colors and work towards darker colors. But as the visibility of the water changes go with a color that is only slightly more light.
Remember that most of Bait Fish or insects are really trying to blend into the background so you want to highlight a little more. It really is not so difficult when the water is the use of a template slightly lighter green green. But if the waters or streams are the use of an active workforce of rigid plastic and if the waters are still use a pen in the workforce because they have a more animated.
Another good trick is to use a body-colored with a dye head. For example, use a yellow worm with a red head or invest. But I haven had much success in using opposite colors like red with green.
I know do not carry a color wheel, but it might help, in our tackle box, but if the combination seems unnatural color choices are the type of fish could think so. You can use opposite colors if there is a gradient between colors. Avoid strong contrast of colors as these do not appear readily in nature.
