Names such as Montague, Horrocks-Ibbotson, Shakespeare, South Bend, are not worth much because they were produced in mass (that ugly-Stik) – there are exceptions. As a rule, after World War II Japan made bars are nothing more than "tomato stake" unless they have a sentimental value, since were cheaply made and not "Tonkin cane. As with any antique, condition means everything. Most Searched bars are the "short" fly rod, 8 ', 7'6 "and 7", as these were not as common as more bars. Antique & Collectible Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel DB will help you assess the value of the bars. Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair will help in the restoration of the rods. If you do not wish to undertake the restoration process, you can search the network for the "restoration of bamboo – but remember that if you Send your rods out, it will take time to recover, and are looking at a cost of between $ 50 – $ 100 per section. It would be helpful to talk to the craftsman before sending Work your bars.
