Steel Magnolias – 4 Stars (Excellent)

What is not often that a man could be deceived by a film about a group of women who share their lives, love, hopes, dreams, struggles and tragedies in a beauty salon, but I staggered Steel Magnolias as the bait on a hook.

Maybe it was because I am a movie fan relation to undress and expose our strengths and weaknesses, psychological, and human dynamics such as interacting with others.

Maybe it was because I am always so impressed by a film that sends an important message by capturing my heart, and then playing slowly, as the realization an orchestra teacher.

Perhaps it was a pure act of voyeurism to see exactly what a group of cackling women do and say when behind closed doors, and outside the earshot of men.

Or better yet, the performance of Julia Roberts, who won an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress as Shelby, and he won a Golden Globe in the same category. Or the performance of Sally Field who was nominated for best actress Golden Globe M'Lynn, Shelby mother.

Or the performance of Shirley MacLaine, who was nominated for Best Actress BAFTA award as Ouiser Boudreaux. Did I mention that Steel Magnolias was filmed in Louisiana? In the small town of Natchitoches, a lovely setting that easily can take you back to the old rural America.

Field Output should have been nominated for an Oscar, Shirley MacLaine and Golden Globe Both were so good.

Let me not forget the most outstanding performances as Olympia Dukakis as Clairee Belcher, Tom Skerritt as Drum Shelby's father, Daryl Hannah as Annelle, even as Dolly Parton Truvy Jones, the salon owner.

Was said after having a poor director Herbert Ross, Dolly Parton rebuked him and asked if he could act, to which Dolly said, "No, but it is his job to make me look like I can. "You have to love Dolly Parton, she has no illusions about its ability to act and Dolly is still very confident in what she can do.

Steel Magnolias was released in 1989 and written by Robert Harling, who wrote the play "Steel Magnolias" in honor of his sister died after surgery. All the great performance in this film began with the great script by Robert Harling. The play ran for 136 performances on Broadway.

This film has been classified as a movie "chick", but the description of the film does a great disservice. The nickname ignores good writing, great direction, great music and great quality that make the overall presentation of this excellent film. It was about a third of way through the film when I realized the great background music by composer Georges Delerue, was impressive and attractive.

Steel Magnolias runs full range of human emotions-happiness of pure delicious comedy of wit to the grave concern and the tragedy of every parent's worst nightmare. Through thick and thin, that communicates the importance of family and true friends, such as support groups that women can not do without.

Shelby is really the focus. It is she who is about to marry, and much of the early going on tour around the exciting preparations for the ceremony. Shelby is also a diabetic before they had insulin. Her mother wants her adopted children instead of conceiving.

Shelby chooses to become pregnant, the feeling that she "would prefer least 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special. "She seeks support from her mother, but do not understand. The test developed is heartbreaking, but also why you should see Steel Magnolias.

I promise you that if you are female, you will get through this movie without laughing at your heart and mourn your heart. Heck, I'm a normal guy in complete control of myself and my emotions, and I almost missed it.

The title of Steel Magnolias said suggesting that the main characters are delicate as magnolias but tough as steel, even though the film does not do is obvious. The title reminds me of Aubrey Andelin book Man of Steel and Velvet.

This film and the characters in it are not pretentious. Trust me when I say that all names as M'Lynn, Truvy, Ouiser, Clairee, Shelby Drum and originate from the South. These people are down home, living their lives in their own terms, not society.

Steel Magnolias is an excellent movie, and that answers my question most remarkable to see any movie: Am I a better person for having seen this movie? In this case, is a resounding yes. Do not leave this planet without seeing Steel Magnolias. Life is never easy, but rewarding.

My mother used to say: "It'sa great life if you can stand to live. "Man, I was right.
