Best time of year to fish for trout / Bass?
I wonder what the most preferred and least preferred times of the year (fall, winter, …) to fish for trout and bass? I live in California and use a spin to see them (spinners, grubs and PowerBait / salmon eggs) If I would tell you I'm going to fish for trout and now for bass in a lake. What would you recommend? I mean what kind of lures and what type of platforms that I use? I have no access to a boat. I'm going fishing in Lake Castaic, CA (for those of you who live in the area). Sometimes the fish in the lakes, but mainly in the rivers.
Fish out of the dam at Castaic. Especially after the trout are dumped into Lake. Another place to try for trout after half which is in the west ramp, trout get planted there too. For trout, PowerBait and spinners. Hatchery trout strike at all. For both largemouth bass and stripers, Aspect trout swimbaits. A large topwater lure trout color also works when the bass start busting them on the surface. Pesco Castaic also, from time to often. Lake Casitas on the road to the town of Castaic is my water at home. The same is true with trout and bass chasing there.
