Salmon egg cure for white fish?
So heres my story. We like to go fishing on whitefish in Lake Michigan and when the wind and temperature are to each person of the legal limit catches. but on other days when the lake is calm, there will be 75 people fishing, all with the same set anyone anything catches. With the exception of that one or two older boys who seem to pull them up like crazy. Cogen is no limit as soon as people leave to move on the ground there and do not get a bite. I realize that's what I like to call magical eggs. As I am new to this I would really appreciate if someone could give me a step by step how to cure salmon eggs. how long to boil, add the ingredients, time to dry. ect.ect.ect. I know that these "old pros" use a home cure and do not believe in store bought cures. Someone please help Thanks
What has been done in the past in the northwest has been to pack the PURE egg skeins BORAX (available at hardware stores or when you buy cleaning products such as laundry detergent). Opening the package of them, ensuring that all the eggs are coated, then just cut into bait sized pieces. No cooking or drying. Just keep in the refrigerator. I wonder how time keeping … is usually consumed first.
